Mike Hess began his career in criminal justice working fulltime as a criminal investigator for the State of Ohio while also attending law school at Capital University Law School. After graduating from Capital University in 2000, Mike opened his own law practice. Throughout his 18-year legal career, Mike has worked in both the public and private sectors. Mike served as the chief assistant county prosecutor for Pickaway County, and is currently the prosecutor for the Village of Obetz. He is also the attorney for the villages of Commercial Point and Laurelville and is legal counsel for Pickaway Area Progress (P3).
Mike learned the value of hard work from his mother who drove a school bus for 43 years and his father who was a factory worker. After graduating from Bowling Green State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Mike moved to central Ohio.
Mike met his wife, Stephanie, in law school and soon after graduation they relocated to Pickaway County where they have lived for 14 years. Community service has always been very important to Mike. He is a current member of the Pickaway County Park District Board, the Pickaway County Law Library Board, the Circleville Civil Service Commission and is the vice president of the Berger Health Foundation Board. Mike has previously served as a member of Circleville City Council, is a past president of the Pickaway County Bar Association, served as a trustee for the Circleville Presbyterian Church, was the former chairman of Pickaway Diversified Industries, a former board member of Stepping Stones, and was named the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Attorney of the Year in 2013.
